Education

We believe that education creates opportunities and the means for individuals to share their talents with the world. Edúcate, Centro de Enlace’s new education initiative, provides programs to create a more equitable chance for success and an eventual end to generational poverty for individuals and the community.

Through our After School Program for Latino high school students, volunteers help with homework or projects and offer students the support they need to achieve their academic potential.  The Center provides computers and academic materials, as well as student aids and informational materials to support students on the path to college.

Students come to the center for homework assistance and to use the computers.

The Center now hosts a Library Branch of AMY Regional Libraries that lends books in Spanish.  We especially encourage mothers to read to young children in order to introduce books to children at an early age and to promote adult literacy in the community.

Centro de Enlace houses a Computer Center to ensure that the Latino community has access to educational resources available on the web.  We also provide classes through our Computer Literacy Program to educate around basic computer skills.

Our Language Lab offers multiple language learning experiences through various computer software programs including Rosetta Stone and Mango, and educational video and cassette tapes are available for those wishing to learn English or Spanish. Our Language Exchange project pairs Spanish and English speakers and provides structure for reciprocal conversation practice sessions.

The Center is seeking funding for targeted education programs for youth, young adults, and older adults.  The educational aspirations of each of these groups in our community have been cut short and continue to be thwarted.  You can help community members realize their dreams by donating funds for computers or by volunteering.
